What is TLS Encryption?

Transport Layer Security (TLS), is a way to encrypt your email traffic from server to server. It bypasses the complicated time drain that is per email encryption, while still ensuring security. TLS is a minimum requirement for e-security best practice.

To implement TLS, identify what email server you’re using and if the server can enable TLS (the vast majority will). If your server allows it, enable TLS. From this point, the emails will be sent and received using TLS as long as the destination has TLS enabled on their server.

If the destination server is not TLS enabled, your email will not be encrypted when sent and will be left vulnerable to attacks.

Policy based TLS encryption services allow companies to ensure email is only sent to certain organisations if TLS encryption is applied. These secure encrypted connections essentially create a private network for the company.
